Novel: The Widow's House
Author: Daniel Abraham
Rating: 3 of 5
Genre: Economic Fantasy
Short synopsis: Cithrin invents currency backed by sovereign debt.
There's also some stuff involving war, priests, and dragon. But come this is the shit I was here for: In book four she finally did what I was hoping she'd do in book two: give all that useless gold to a King and, in return, get slips of paper that the king totally promises are worth the gold.
And he'll keep that promise too, so long as no one ever asks for it. And in return, our protagonist has the exclusive right to print as much paper money off the debt as she wants.
Everything else is details.
