At least two recent supreme court decisions can be summarized as: The States cannot remove the rights of the citizens.

And that is the sort of thing I expect libertarians to dig on. But, they aren't, in either case, are they?

If you watch Netflix's original show Ascension, give it two episodes.

If you watch Netflix's original show Ascension, give it two episodes. We just about quit after the dumbness of the first one, and were pleasantly surprised by the second. No idea if it is good after that.

For some reason, we turned on broadcast TV this morning.

For some reason, we turned on broadcast TV this morning. And there's Huckabee, spouting hate. He was advocating that county clerks should ignore the Supreme Court on matters of marriage equality.

Or, to put it in Jacksonian verbiage: Kennedy has made his decision, now let's see him enforce it.

Just as Jackson was wrong on the wrong side of history, Huckabee will discovery that he is as well.

And there is a way -- and was then -- for the court to enforce its decisions: Federal marshals. Its a mallet, but can be used.

Any experts on Google Analytics?

Any experts on Google Analytics?

I can't seem to pull out what I actually want -- which would have dimensions like userID, visit sequence for that User, page visit sequence for that visit.

I'd want metrics like entry date/time and leave date/time. Having a table like this -- maybe with a few more measures -- would be sufficiently granular to let me do anything I want. Rather than the hybrid I'm getting.

Any thoughts out there?
Thanks, Obama

The hold inside yucca mountain. For Misha B

The hold inside yucca mountain. For Misha B

This is the first two floors. There's some blank space, though should probably be more. Things have been repurposed over the years, and nothing works right.

The ramp leading in used to be stairs, and has been covered with ... you know, probably horse crap. We've got a lot of that, here in Yucca.

My expectation is this will change drastically during game -- when it becomes relevant anyway.

I missed last session, and it sounds like the hold was invaded by cultists. As a veteran rebuild player, I hate cultists.....

(from hand drawing to pdf to png. Excuse the transfer errors.)

A few days ago, I saw a meme suggesting that Sandy Hook was the end of gun control debate in the US.

A few days ago, I saw a meme suggesting that Sandy Hook was the end of gun control debate in the US. That's just not true.

It was Columbine.

When we decided to blame video games and goths and the internet for school shooting, the debate was over. Dead. Finito.

Now, we're blaming a racist cowardly symbol. These things may be proximate causes (probably not), but none of these would be possible without guns.

And we're not even talking about the shooter being able to get a handgun. Instead, we're talking about a symbol of awfulness.

And don't get me wrong: Pull down that flag. Put it away. Let Wisconsin keep theirs in a museum. Let it be known that to display it as "heritage" is to align yourself with cowardly traitorous scumbags.

But let's worry about the guns.

That escalated quickly: When getting on Metro (DC's Subway) yesterday with grocery bags, there was a dude on a smart phone half blocking the door. To get on the train, I had to brush past him. I asked him -- politely! -- to not block the door, and he responded with anger and ire.

Best part? Every time the doors open and close, passengers are told to move towards the center of the car and to not block the car.

This is white male privilege: Unconsciously blocking a door, and responding with anger when asked to be a considerate human being.

His anger continued to increase throughout our conversation. He asked why I didn't say this to other people who were blocking other doors -- I responded they weren't blocking me. Apparently its OK to act like a jerk so long as teenagers are doing the same -- because that is the level of engagement we expect from adults.

He was shocked that anyone would move away from the doors to not block them, and seemed genuinely surprised that my habit was to move from door to door.

At some point, I disengaged after he said I'd better "stop talking". I immediately took this as a threat of physical violence. Luckily, my glorious wife was there to point out that, well, some people just have no human consideration.

We needed to go through the door he was blocking to get off, and he made a point that he wouldn't move. DIanne's last words, in her sweetest South belle tone? Go Fuck Yourself.

In an apocalypse World game, the GM has charged me with drawing my hard hold.

In an apocalypse World game, the GM has charged me with drawing my hard hold. This is an old-west themed game -- the only person with a car is the Driver, everyone else uses horses. The hold is in Yucca mountain -- we use glowing uranium as ammunition, and as a light source.

When i first met the brainer, I wound up shooting him. And now there are cultists inspired by the brainer in my hold.

I'm planning to draw maps and leave blanks.

But, the two questions:
1. I am terrible at all forms of drawing. What's an easy way to do this?
2. What things should be in the hard hold? We know there's an inn and a stables. There really should be an armory. What else do we need in a township of about 100?

You tell me, internet.

Dear Excel: I hate you.

Internet, my knee hurts. How do I make it stop?

Internet, my knee hurts. How do I make it stop?

warning: able-bodied privilege ahead. Other types will probably be on display.

In September, I dislocated my knee for the third time. I went to months of rehab, and escaped needing surgery. Hooray!

I was also depressed and sad during that time. The temporary loss of the ability to walk struck me pretty hard.

The last time I got an x-ray, I learned that there is now a fucked up bit of bone. My patella is weaker than it should be, thanks to a missing sliver on the left side. This probably happened, says the doc, the first or second time. Those were both more traumatic in the moment, and I believe him.

I've done lots of PT, and most people can't tell there's anything wrong. I'm basically able bodied, though I've got a weird gait going down escalators. And I notice a limp all the time, though even my wife can't see it. Usually.

For the last two months, I've been running. Mostly treadmill, sometimes outside, but last night on the treadmill. I run away from zombies, and play solitaire. And listen to music. I've got enough crap going on to keep me interested.

Due to a cold, we skipped about a week. Last night, we were back up for a quick jog. Like 20 minutes. I was able to do 4 miles an hour with only minor aches, but as soon as I hit 6 mph (actually running), BOOM, pain. Of course I stopped, and then did some PT.

Searching, questing pain looking for how to disable me. Pain starting in my knee, echoing to my shin, then bounding back to my hip. I slept in my brace, out of fear my knee would jump out of socket.

I don't want to stop running. I've really enjoyed it. Doing 10 miles a week and being covered in sweat? That's pretty awesome. I've felt like I'm finally using my body.

At the same time, I cannot do an activity that's going to make my knee unusable. Walking is kind of important to my ongoing life.

I need solutions. Suggestions from the internet?

Also: Yes, I know I've got it pretty good in life. I'm not trying to compare, but am looking for minor sympathy and suggestions.
