I adore this game. And basically everything Avery has ever written.

Friends, geeks,

The Quiet Year ran out of print, which meant an opportunity to reprint it using my real, genuine name.

If you haven't heard of The Quiet Year, let me share a little. It's a map-drawing game about a post-civ community. It was awarded Most Innovative Game of 2013 (http://www.indie-rpg-awards.com/2013/most_innovate.shtml). In her review over at Kotaku, Gita Jackson mentioned that " this game where you describe a small community made a small community out of us" (http://kotaku.com/how-the-quiet-year-brings-people-together…). The PDF is bundled with a free sister game PDF called The Deep Forest, co-authored with Mark Diaz Truman, which takes the game in a post-colonial weird fantasy direction (http://buriedwithoutceremony.com/the-deep-forest/).

The Quiet Year is a game for 2-4 players, and it takes 2-4 hours. This is the first game to actually list "Avery Alder" as its author.

I'm now taking pre-orders for the new printing: PDF ($8), book & card set ($25), and a deluxe bag set ($40). The PDF is available now, and the other two will ship in November.

I'd love it if you shared this post.
