"We're going to watch Pennsylvania.

"We're going to watch Pennsylvania. Go down to certain areas and watch and study and make sure other people don't come in and vote five times," he said at a rally in Altoona. "If you do that, we're not going to lose. The only way we can lose, in my opinion -- I really mean this, Pennsylvania -- is if cheating goes on."

I plugged this into google translate, and here's what I got:
"Go to polling places and stop democrats from voting. They are the ones that aren't white."

  1. That is, this isn't a claim about elections. Its a call to action to commit election fraud, and make sure only the right people vote

  2. For me as a German, it's so hard not to bring up Hitler's rise to power every time this asshole opens his mouth. But the SA went to polling stations (armed, of course) to do similar intimidation work.

  3. It was only a few years back that we had some serious ratfuckery at the polls up here. Assholes driving past the polls with loaded shotguns. Folks trying to get rides to the polls, only to be dumped at the edge of town instead. Misinformation printed on doorhangers that told people the wrong day or address. Fake GOTV petitioners that collected voter registrations and shredded the Democratic ones. Just straight-up Good Ol' Boy nastiness. All that kind of shit, MYST - EEERIOUSLY only targeting predominantly-Democrat boroughs, don'chaknow.

It still makes my blood boil. And I'm sure we'll see it again come November.

  5. Doublespeak is a difficult dialect, but it can probably be done.

  6. Christian Griffen Yeah. I'm always worried about Godwin's law in these situations -- and its more polite cousin, trying real hard not to make the comparisons. If Germans are making the comparisons, then I think Godwin's law may be off the table.

  7. Fiona Zimmer Yeah. If I remember correctly, Buffet is doing some funding for Souls to the Polls this year -- and despite my strong secular views, that seems a good thing.

  8. The SA doing intimidation work at polls and just generally in the streets is the first thing I thought of when I heard this. Then of southerners during Jim Crow standing at polling places with nooses.

  9. I start to be absolutely terrified. Trump scares the sh*t out of me. He seems to be psychologically unstable and I cannot imagine what happens if he gets control of the US atomic arsenal.

And now saying things like these: in a state in which Clinton leads the polls, saying that he's 100% sure to win unless the election is rigged, this seems to be preparing for, idk, civil unrest? Everyone believing him shouldn't accept any official authority after the election unless he wins?

I'm not a US citizen, but in my opinion Trump is destroying the United States of America, or at least damaging them. Just by his campaign and without regard how the election turns out...

  10. Michel Kangro He worries me, too. But, as Obama has pointed out, we've come through demagogues before without succumbing. I expect the same end result.
