How have you made the world safer for your neighbors this past fortnight or so?
We attended the science march. I continue to use ResistBot, pointing out that Trump has committed high crimes and misdemeanors and ought to be removed. I try a few other tactics as well, though those guys are all on this side of the aisle. In a few days, I am hopeful I'll be able to donate more to the ACLU.
I saw some deplorabes in red caps on metro today, lost and confused and uncertain how to get on a train. I got away from them as quickly and politely as possible, as I could feel anger rising and didn't want to do anything terrible -- like a shove, a closed fist punch, or just snide remarks. None of which would have improved the world, and all of which went through my mind.
The Virginia governors race is this year. We're starting to field candidates, and it should be a doozy. I'm wondering how much I should pay attention to the primary.

Science march, and took my boys to our local mosque's "Taste of Islam" community outreach day ... which had less food than I had hoped for, but did an excellent job of illustrating "Wow, this is just a space where bunches of kids are trying to find somewhere to play while their parents do religiousy stuff that the kids tolerate with an eye-roll... just like our synagogue!" The difference in terms of how alien and intimidating it seemed (or didn't) between walking in and walking out was marked.
ReplyDeleteI'm using Resistbot, as well, to thank and suggest and implore our Democratic Senators and I use Resistbot to tell my worthless Republican Rep. blow-hard, Jason Lewis exactly what I want and think.
ReplyDeleteI called and thanked Senator Ted Lieu in CA (even though I don't live there) for fighting for the people, for having the guts to call out Trump on his bizarre behavior and drawing up a bill that would allow Presidents to get professional mental healthcare and, in future, require that they go through a mental health eval before running for office and for demanding that no legislation be done until the Russia/Trump collusion investigation is resolved. He is incredible.
I called our Gov. to implore him to veto Enbridge from building their dirty, corrupt Pipeline 3 in our state, MN. Enbridge execs should be in prison. They are criminals and have covered up massive oil spills that are making people seriously and chronically ill, not to leave out the fact that they have killed off massive amounts of pristine wetlands and other wild areas and animals.
I called Ryan's and McConnell's office to demand an Independent Investigation with Independent Special Counsel.
I called a few of the Freedom Caucus members to tell them to keep their corrupt hands off of health insurance unless they can give us all a plan as good as the ones we pay for for them.
