Would anyone like to recommend a political charity other than the ACLU?

  1. Does it have to be a tax deductible one?

  2. Books Through Bars (in Philadelphia and NYC, maybe elsewhere) - they send donated books to people in prison.

www.abcf.net - they send mail to political prisoners (many local chapters)

    Your local chapter of www.foodnotbombs.net

  3. Also https://www.nlg.org/ - helping protesters out if/when they get arrested.

  4. EFF. MSF. I've also heard good things about the Sierra Foundation.

  5. FBB basically just vets other charities for worthiness and then re-routes your money to them as a grant. So you could always just see what charities they're helping and give to them directly.

  6. Karen Steele I dunno, do you think it does?

  7. "Does the most good" is probably in the eye of the beholder... I generally try to give my money to groups that have little or no administrative overhead and/or are super local. But that is just me.

  8. For me, sending money to a local charity always feels like I am trying to benefit myself. But, that's just me.

  9. William Nichols Yes, I think so. Journalistic integrity is becoming political, unfortunately. There are also a number of individual programs that are doing publicly funded investigative journalism.

  10. This is all correct. And all good organizations. I went with the ACLU again. I think their work scales.
