All my thoughts on space ships, star destroyers, etc always come back to the same published universe: Traveller.
Every. Single. Time.
Now I'm reading PDF's on the Free Trader. Blueprints, designs, etc.
It's not perfect; the computers are measures in meters, there's an emphasis on squares instead of real measurements, and the crew size seems smaller than I want.
Still. Here's a 200t free trader.

Go and read about the Gazelle Class Close Escort. It's a wonderful little ship, perfect for a crew of 4-12 on a variety of jobs.
ReplyDeleteHowever, it has fuel tanks which can be dropped effectively lowering it's dton and improving its performance.
Now if that works for the Gazelle class, why doesn't every ship in Traveller use collapsible or detachable fuel tanks.
Please note though, I am not sharing this with you so that you can go and fix all 100-odd Traveller ships. You probably would even enjoy such a task.
All this talk of ISDs and now Traveller. I think someone just likes triangles.

Brian Ashford The Gazelle Class Close Escort doesn't seem to hold much cargo ....
ReplyDeleteIt holds enough if you are transporting stolen diamonds or implosion missiles.
ReplyDeleteOr you could convert one of the lounges or some of the many crew quarters into cargo space.
Also: Jump 5 / G5? Jatsus, that's a fast mover.
