A question, internet.

A question, internet.

What sort of laptop do I need to run this:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/208140/Endless_Space__Collection/

What this is: a several year old 4x game.

Why I want it: My favorite 4x game is moo2. It is ... kind of old. Like 20 years old. I've basically stopped playing it.

Why I need a new laptop: Mine won't stay turned on.

  1. Yes, Bret. I got that. I have little idea what those specs mean: amounts of ram sure, but different types of graphics cards come in words that are meaningless.

  2. I had trouble running ES2 on a 2016 13” macbook pro with max specs.

  5. You could probably get away with a Pentium i3 processor and 2 gb of ram. I own the game and getting over the specs would definately be worth it, but this would like do the trick https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lenovo-330-15ikb-15-6-laptop-intel-core-i3-8gb-memory-1tb-hard-drive-platinum-gray/6221790.p?skuId=6221790

  6. The game does recommend upgrading to an i5 or equivalent processor though

  7. I think the moral of my experience is that a discrete graphics card would be good.

  8. Endless Space is fine, but Stellaris is a much better game. If you can get a laptop that would run that, it would be the bee's knees.

  9. I definately agree with Larry now that Stellaris has been reworked to not constantly stifle you like it did at the initial release.

  10. For sure, except the buy in price is much higher for the correct laptop

  11. Oh man, I love Endless Space... Somehow ES2 didn't quite capture me as much as the original ... though I've kind of gotten sucked into Stellaris of late. If you do get it running and would like to try and play online sometime hit me up.

  12. Sam Zeitlin I've definitely found that adding a discrete graphics card does wonders for running games, compared to other efforts.
