Oxygen Not Included
Cycle 40.
Everything was fine. We were a little short, on water, but dealing with it.
We went digging.
Found neutronium. Neat. And ice. Even better!
Annie came down with slimelung. We quarantined her. She's not getting any better.
Then Sally came down with slimelung.
We may quarantine both of them until they die. That'd be a waste of good people, but at least we'd get rid of the slimelung. There's that.
Alternatively: We could simply blow up the base and start over.

And for some reason, there's water everywhere now. I have no idea why.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like the The ice biome you found is melting. If you put medbeds in and have someone doctor the sick they'll survive but it might take up to 10 cycles.
ReplyDeleteOxygen Not Included is one of my favorite ant farm sims.
So I should try to save everyone. I can try.
ReplyDeleteOk so this is where I died previoulsy. The heated air from your base melts the ice area, but the water and air the zone releases is ultra cold. If that enters your ventilation system and/or piping, your people will start freezing.
ReplyDeleteFor me the people who get sick are those who are doing my best digging. So losing their stats can hurt development. If you have have other diggers and this person won't be miss, you can make their demise quick by taking away their access to enter back into the base. but this might cause some stress for the rest of your base.
ReplyDeleteSlimelung can be a headache to deal with. It can snowball quickly where you don't have enough quarantine quarters and the germs continue to spread. I would frequently check the germ layer (f9) to see how wide spread it is. Use manual airlocks to block the flow and consider mining some bleach stone. (Clorine kills most germs)
I'm at three people with slimelung. I have made a second quanrantine center, and am working on a third medbed.
ReplyDeleteThe quanrantine centers are weird. Having food in them isn't a necessary part of the room, but is essential to long term use.
Finally, we are now short on food. We've grown, and the number of farm rooms hasn't kept up. I should do something about that, and for quick.
I've also been looking at the hydrogen gas pocket just below us. Wondering how to effectively setup a hydrogen generator. Working on it.
At worst, I'll build coal and have the area closed off with air locks. It'll be hot and horrible, but it won't impact the rest of the base.
I am terrible at this game. But it is fun!
ReplyDeleteWill you say more, Mischa Krilov ?
ReplyDeleteHeh, I've played around with this game, but not for a few updates... they keep adding stuff! It's really fun but my people die so much.
