On socks.

On socks.

I have 3 types of socks. White, Brown, Black.

That's (mostly) it. I also have a novelty pair of socks from the prime meridian, but that is the one case.

Once a year or so -- or, more precisely, when I notice the brown socks are getting worn, hopefully when I find some fantastic deal -- I replace all the brown socks. Usually with a different brand, so I know if I find the old ones. I do much the same thing with undies, though I've been replacing en masse a lot less since I started buying extra pairs on vacation.

Anyway, yes. I do that.

Once, I bought a dozen pairs of undies for five dollars. It was fantastic.

  1. I have one pair of purple Halloween socks that someone gave me, and the rest are all black... I endeavor to get the same style every time so that I never have to worry about matching, I just pick up two socks and they go together... I only buy new socks when I am forced to throw them away/loose enough of them that I don't have enough pairs to last a couple of weeks (i.e. if i don't have enough to comfortably make it between wash days)...

  2. Yearly we do something similar with socks. Every family member wears a different brand for easy sorting. Once a year or so I'll go through and discard all the mismatched and holey socks and replace them. That's usually when we re-up on underwear too. Back to school usually has the best sales on this sort of thing.

  3. I always buy 30 or so pairs of the exact same socks and wear those until I have few enough for a wardrobe (due to loss or holes), then buy another set of 30. Usually black, low.

  4. Josh Roby YEP! And the real question is: Why don't you?

Sure, there is another option: wear mis matched socks intentionally. Maybe one bright BLUE and one with CATAN tiles on it, for example.

That'd be an awesome look. I'd probably marry such a woman. (hint hint: I did). But, one brown and one black would be not a fun look.
