Tell me both public and suspected reasons Comey was fired. Please mark them as such.

Not the place to disagree with theories, but you can ask for clarification.

  1. Public - His errors in judgement on how he reported to congress on the (I hate to type these words) Clinton email investigation (excuse me while I am violently ill)

Suspected - Lack of loyalty to WH in general, is on the side of GOP party hacks like Frog and Turtle.

  2. Suspected - I would assume it's to throw a spanner in the works of any Russia probe, by generating a power/leadership vacuum. Given the general issues with the administration's filling of posts, I assume his seat could be empty for a long time to come.

  3. Brandes Stoddard I love that you used the word "spanner."

Derrick Sanders Glad I'm not the only one who thinks he looks like a Turtle.

  4. Suspected: WH has behind-the-scenes info on the expanding investigation. They do not like what they are seeing (in that the investigation is gaining ground on the full truth and putting dangerous-to-them ducks in a row). WH is, furthermore, stupid enough to think that Comey is somehow central to an intelligence-gathering effort that has progressed far beyond him, to the types of calm, meticulous, self-effacing professionals whose names do not make it into the media at all, ever, under any circumstances, in fact if you even think you see them standing there you are mistaken, delusional, and possibly need to be committed for your own good.

Admittedly, there's some positive bias on this hypothesis. It's undergoing systematic testing of its predictive value just now.

  5. Suspected : WH sees him as a grandstanding disloyal backstabber.
Public: he sucks at leading the FBI

  6. My suspicion: This was much less suspicious than a bullet.

  7. I'm not sure there's any rational reason to be suspicious of this next one, but I admit that I am irrationally discomfited by the worry that the goal is to rapidly replace Comey with somebody willing to use the FBI as a punitive arm of executive authority. We have an uncharmingly bad history with that.
