How do i move this?
Arts and crafts have never been my thing.
For a game for camp nerdly, I'm bringing a really large map. It goes over 16 letter sized pieces of paper, which I am taping together. There are margins -- call it an inch at top and bottom, and ignorably small on the right and left. I cut off the lower margins, so make fitting together easier.
Four by Four, right? Call the top "A", and the left hand side "1". The top left is A1. The lower right is D4.
I have taped together A1-A4, B1-B4, C1-C4, and D1-D4. This has some flexibility, and I am pretty sure I could fold it back to being letter size with minimal problem.
Combining the A's with the B's makes it harder to fold up. Pretty sure there will be damage to the paper.
Any suggestions?

rolled? Would it fit in the center tube from some wrapping paper or something?
ReplyDeleteOption 2, get iron on transfer paper and a white sheet. Print (making sure to reverse the image) and iron onto the sheet.
ReplyDeleteMaybe!
ReplyDeleteMisha B That's kind of brilliant, if we owned an iron. (It's complicated.)
Another option: only tape down, not across. Do the across taping at camp. Then I need to bring tape.
Patty's suggestion of rolling into a mailing tube is also good.
ReplyDeleteYep!
ReplyDeleteYou both gave real good ideas!
well, Dianne Harris woke up.
ReplyDeleteAfter getting her initial shock of me doing arts and crafts -- she knows me well -- she suggested doing the final tape at camp.
Print another set and assemble it on site. Bring it in a manila folder with a roll of tape. That's what I did, anyway! Also: One copy for the Committee and one copy for everybody else, ideally.
ReplyDeleteDerek Balling Nah, its a map of the polar region of a world.
ReplyDeleteJason Morningstar I'll absolutely have two copies. I printed out three. Because it takes me so long to cut off the margins correctly, I think I'll keep the taped up portions I've got. And then assemble the last bits when I get there.
I've got a protective tub it should all fit easily into.
I didn't trim mine! Anyway, thanks for offering the game and doing the arts and crafts prep work it requires.
ReplyDeleteBoth my games have prep. Next year, I'll just bring Fiasco.
ReplyDeleteGet plastic protective sleeves, the kind that have holes can be put into a 3 ring binder. Put each page into one. These can then be taped together at site and if necessary the tape removed afterwards for easy storage. The maps will themselves remain in good shape. For added stability add a comic book backing board cardboard into each sleeve to prevent crimping. Should be usable again and again.
