From the Comey written testimony:
"The President then returned to the topic of Mike Flynn, saying, 'He is a good guy and has been through a lot.' He repeated that Flynn hadn’t done anything wrong on his calls with the Russians, but had misled the Vice President. He then said, 'I hope you can see your way clear to letting this go, to letting Flynn go. He is a good guy. I hope you can let this go.'"

Fucking Don Corleone never made a clearer statement.
ReplyDeleteThat's what Kamala Harris basically said, too, very poignantly :)
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to think what (besides deciding I picked a bad day to quit cigarettes/drinking/sniffing glue) I would suggest as a press officer trying to spin this.
ReplyDeleteHaving a boss who lacks the com-sec discipline to stick with a flat denial or any kind of fabrication has got to be a heck of a challenge... like a boxing match with both hands tied behind your back.
Okay, this is weird, or maybe not. I did not listen to the Comey testimony live, but when I read the above I immediately thought of Henry II and Thomas Becket. Apparently, so did Comey and Angus King. Very sorry I missed that.
