How does Games on Demand work?
This year, I don't have the emotional energy to prep stuff for Dreamation. Given how work has been, I'll barely have the energy to reg for games.
I've never done games on demand, or IgX in general. Do I just show up, with or without a game and gaming materials, and see what's happening?
Is it like the Dreamation bar, but more focused on gaming?

I am pretty certain they are still working things out. Over the last couple cons Michael and Kat have had the little alcove over by the Indie game table (moder myths) with some hand made sign-up sheets of games people have offered to run. AFAIK they are planning on doing something more structured. My guess is that the biggest question will be how many (and which) rooms will they be allowed to make use of for GoD vs regular rpgs.
ReplyDeleteI ran a GoD at DexCon. It was very informal. There were forms on the wall to write the game's name, GM, time, location, and max number of players. Each game spot had lines underneath for player sign up.
ReplyDeleteI filled out the GM Questionnaire for Dreamation as willing to do GoD but didn't list any specific games or times.

William Nichols As Shane and Dylan mentioned, this is the inaugural GoD at Dreamation. Kat and I are still working out details. If you are sure you want to be involved, fill out the form that Dylan linked. If you're not sure whether you'll have the energy, just bring the materials to run a couple games and one of the GoD-parents at GoD HQ will help you offer your game.
ReplyDelete(Also, plussing me into questions helps me find them in the sea of the Internet.)
[ I know it would Michael! I asked the crowd rather than you first in case anyone had good ideas. Figured I could go to you directly if folks didn't know. ]
ReplyDeleteSince there is already a thread going and Michael Miller is here, I'll ask if you only GM GoD, do you still get a GM badge? I'm not worried about the $55 since I already paid and don't know how many games I'll run. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteMy understanding is two games for 5+ people, and if I am wrong Michael will assuredly say so.
ReplyDeleteNot affiliated with the actual GoD people, ogre waits until he has at least 3 or 4 and then just starts pitching. He let's the players work out consensus among themselves. Frequently a next game will be named as a bargaining chip.
ReplyDeleteDylan Ross from what I know GoD doesn't get you a gm badge.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the convention. Traditionally Dragonflight, Geek Girl Con and Orcacon out here do offer GM badges if you arrange to be a GoD person.
ReplyDeleteMickey Schulz I should have said @dreamation.
