ReplyDeleteThanks for the receipt, Dylan Ross.
ReplyDeleteNote: This morning, initial weigh in 210.1
ReplyDeleteThe difference? RUNNING. I did laps in the apartment, then weighed in. I got all sweaty and breathed a lot. Not bad.
I didn't trust the measurement first, so did it again. Got it twice, so I figure I'm not just cherry picking errors.
I hadn't realized how tense following this was for me until now! Congrats.
ReplyDeleteDo you know why, Kit La Touche?
ReplyDeleteThat's a can of worms. A quick story: a friend's sister was trekking in Alaska once upon a time when their guide got swept away in a spring-flooded river that she was testing out. Everyone freaked out, but the sister in question kept her head and saved the guide. After, she said that it seemed like everyone else was caught up, unconsciously, in the idea that they were in a story, and that a Dramatic Thing was happening and first, they were audience, second, things would work out.
ReplyDeleteI think I kinda was caught up in this as a story! It's only when it actually reached the end that I went "wait, wow, this might not have worked out and there would be (admittedly, self-chosen) consequences".
Oh man, Kit La Touche , I get that!
ReplyDeleteIn years previous the stakes were .. different. Like, my money going to a bad organization if I failed. I think I prefer this!
As much as it did stain a relationship or two, I think it was ultimately a more positive community experience.
Admittedly, the weird thing with this one is nothing bad happens to me if I fall. But, there's a reason for that: unlike Kim and Tony and Patty, I do not trust myself.
