The cloud is not magic the cloud is an illusion. Where are you when the cloud fails? Falling...
I have a Nexus 7 .... nice little pad but worthless when there is no internet access for 80% of what I use it for. It becomes a fancy Kindle otherwise. I do no serious work on it, and using it for reading books is what it does 75% of the time.
I never use it for composition. Give me a hard drive run and stored not on the cloud notebook or desktop with Word Perfect for serious work.
I am dreading the day I have to replace my laptop.... I do not want anything to do with Windows 10 as I don't want them to spy on me and my wife can't (she's an accountant, using MS Windows 10 is a violation of NDA agreements since it keylogs you to a 3rd party controlled cloud that is vulnerable to hacking).
I'm waiting for the lawsuits to bring down the Windows 10 spyware.. several are working their way thru the EU courts and I've been told some have been filed as well in the US.
This is, mostly, the poke fun of mansplaining, jokingly mock Noah Stevens, and occasionally say how patriarchy is also bad for men thread.
Not the serious threads on changing technology and how it impacts professions. This is more light hearted. Not that you're wrong; I'm just not willing to put forth the spoons to have that conversation right now.
huh, it just took me fewer spoons to explain why I didn't want to have a conversation than I thought it'd take to actually have it. Because I am conditioning to perform masculinity, and acting as an authority figure it totally that. Gah. My brain is annoying.
Noah Stevens That gets to the initial point: we are all imposers. For ex: Ain't one of us "male", we perform masculinity. This is easier for some than others, and -- yes -- calling me an imposter is an act of masculinity.
Which is rather the point; there's no iphone people, there's no android people. There's just blobs of organic matter that are convinced of individuality and the legitimacy of lines drawn in the sand by marketers.
Maybe, Noah Stevens : It was more about how we all suck.
ReplyDelete"Not a one of us is what we identify as; those are social constructs, and we are organic bits of oddly formed matter."
ReplyDelete-- it was that sort of thing.
All good fun, Noah Stevens . Now get a new phone.
ReplyDeleteOh man, G+ on an iphone. That can't be good. Let me recommend the Nexus 5.
ReplyDeleteYeah man, join us on android. join us.......
ReplyDeleteAnd a company missing its chief visionary.
ReplyDelete(too soon?)
ReplyDeleteHow would Excel or Word or Chrome work? What's that, Chrome is the only program you use? Then why use an Apple in the first place?
ReplyDeleteJoin us. I've got a chrome powered laptop (with an 11 hour battery life!), a Nexus 5, and they talk together through the magical cloud.
